IA diagonal route connects the university campus Unter den Linden with the Museum Island and the Scheunenviertel area arround Oranienburgerstrasse. An urban square in front of the fuure university library and a colonaded courtyard on Kupfergraben integrate the picture gallery into the urban surroundings. The design of the picture gallery - accessible from two sides and a jointing piece between Bode Museum and the new library - followes the tradition of large street-block-shaping 'solitaire' buildings.
